As I watch from the open window of the upper-floor room in the printing house, three figures move slowly beneath the flickering light of a lantern. Their shadows stretch across the stone slabs of the fortress. In that moment, I stand motionless in the darkness, like an observer from another time. And yet, I wonder what the law would say about such people\u2014those who walk by night, telling stories of the past, intertwining lives with shadows that should no longer walk among us. My hand slowly slides down the edge of my coat, seeking the familiar weight of the judge\u2019s gavel, but I feel only empty space and silence. The night is thick, the air heavy with rain that seems to be waiting for something to happen.<\/p>

First in the group is a women named Erika<\/b>. Her name, in fact, is not unfamiliar to me. As a judge, I know the people of this town well, and I\u2019ve heard of her books\u2014stories she draws from the archives and the yellowed pages of the past, where the names of women accused of witchcraft are recorded. Erika studies court records from a time when the fortress walls were darker, and superstition held powerful sway. Sometimes, I wonder if she\u2019s aware of the danger that lies in exploring those dark, bygone crafts that the law once punished by fire.<\/p>

Then there is Nikolina<\/b>, she is the second in the group. They say she\u2019s an actress in town, but her face in the lantern light reveals only a cold, distant silence. She has walked these streets a hundred times, guiding tourists through time and telling tales of spirits and shadows. Each time, it seems as if she becomes part of that past, merging with the stones beneath her feet. Her voice, often praised, has already drawn the attention of those who believe in the power of stories and journeys through time. Were I alive, perhaps one day she might have passed through my doors, accused of something that defies explanation.<\/p>

In the end, Miro<\/b>...a professor of Latin and a learned man. Yet even among such people, intellect is not always a shield against suspicion. An old Latin saying goes: Scientia potestas est<\/em> - knowledge is power<\/p>

Pro\u0161li su kroz Vodena vrata, tiho i oprezno, kao da nisu obi\u010dni prolaznici ve\u0107 putnici kroz vrijeme. Erika, Nikolina i Miro hodaju stazama na kojima su \u017eene nekada pre\u017eivljavale usprkos kugi, smrti i praznovjerju. \u201eGospe od zanata,\u201c tako su ih zvali \u2013 \u017eene koje su bile otporne, nevidljive, ali koje su oblikovale grad. Dok Erika podi\u017ee fenjer, prstima prati staro kamenje, kao da osje\u0107a njegovu povijest. Glas joj je tih, ali jasan, dok pri\u010da o kugi i vje\u0161tici Agati. Grad je tada bio druga\u010diji, no ljudska priroda ostala je ista; strah je bio na\u0161 vodi\u010d, a zakon na\u0161 ma\u010d.<\/p>

Nikolina se nadovezuje, koriste\u0107i svoj gluma\u010dki dar da o\u017eivi pro\u0161le \u017eene \u2013 majstorice zanata koje su rukama gradile i odr\u017eavale grad dok su mu\u0161karci odlazili na boji\u0161ta. Njene rije\u010di, meke, ali te\u0161ke, nose sje\u0107anje na sve one neispri\u010dane pri\u010de. I dok ih slu\u0161am, u meni se budi neka \u010dudna mje\u0161avina nostalgije i opreza. Njihove rije\u010di ne samo da o\u017eivljavaju pro\u0161lost, ve\u0107 je i mijenjaju.<\/p>

Miro ostaje tiho, promatraju\u0107i svjetlost fenjera s mislima koje lete dalje. Mo\u017eda je on jedini koji razumije tanku liniju izme\u0111u pro\u0161losti i sada\u0161njosti, izme\u0111u znanja i praznovjerja. Tako nas podsje\u0107a da povijest nije samo knjiga, ve\u0107 i dio na\u0161ih srca.<\/p>

Dok ih promatram s visine, u mraku, dio mene ne mo\u017ee zanemariti staru sumnju. U vremenu kada sam bio \u017eiv, \u017eene s toliko mudrosti bile su predmet osude. Da je drugo vrijeme, mo\u017eda bih ih prijavio \u2013 rekao da Erika zna previ\u0161e o vje\u0161ticama, da Nikolina koristi \u010dudne mo\u0107i, a da Miro skriva opasne istine. Ipak, stojim ovdje, ne podi\u017eem ruku, ne donosim presudu. Mo\u017eda zato \u0161to u njima vidim ne\u0161to \u0161to ne \u017eelim priznati \u2013 njihovo putovanje kroz pro\u0161lost nije ni\u0161ta manje stvarno od mog.<\/p>

Kada nestanu iza ugla, ti\u0161ina me obuzima. Pomislim na Agatu, na \u017eene ovog grada i na povijest koja se \u010dini poput beskrajnog kruga. Mo\u017eda su Erika, Nikolina i Miro samo jo\u0161 jedan dio tog kruga i mo\u017eda je moja uloga samo da ih pustim.<\/p>
